The Technique of Role Playing   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  One of the techniques used most often by theatre high school teachers is role-playing. The reasons that this technique is often used are numerous. When students read a text silently some of the nuance contained in the meaning can be lost. This is particularly true when dealing with a play, or anything containing multiple characters. Reading the piece aloud can help them to understand the connotation as well as the denotation. In the theatre, how a passage is spoken will determine the feeling that it carries with it. Lines of dialogue can suddenly become funny or sad once given inflection. This is the prime reason role-playing is used. The prime time that this technique is employed is when teaching the works of Shakespeare.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The usual set up for a role-playing exercise is as follows: first the teacher will have the students read the text by themselves, then he/she will define any strange or outdated language used in the text. Often with Shakespeare students find the use of the King’s English confusing and therefore do not understand the piece. Once the terms used are understood, the teacher can ask students to read sections aloud that they may hear how the words flow together. Then two or more students are chosen to act out the section with some minimal movement. This added blocking creates the idea that the dialogue motivates the actions.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  When doing this type of activity it is best to employ a combination of two different teaching philosophies. One of them is Pragmatism and the other is Idealism. Idealists value the mind and concepts over all things. In this exercise, it is important to keep this sort of attitude. Students may not always understand the full meaning of the text. Often their young lives do not contain enough experience to comprehend the decisions, or actions that characters make. That is why it is more important that the class grasp the idea of motivated action. The intended meaning of a line will determine how the other characters perceive and react to it. This also lends itself to the idealist precept that life should be guided by thought.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Pragmatism inherent in the exercise comes in to play when dealing with the conclusions reached in class. All of the conclusions reached are subject to change with the individual reciting the piece. That is why theatre teachers often show more than one performance to the class.

Some of the different primary dimensions of diversity include age, gender, mental and physical abilities, race, ethnic heritage, and sexual orientation. These are primary due to the fact that they are more fixed, visible, and relevant to an identity. For example, a male in his mid-thirties are all primary dimensions. There are also secondary dimensions such as geographic location, military/work experience, family status, income, religion, language, education, communication, and work style. Describe what members of your social circle have in common. My ethnic background is Native American and Portuguese. On my mother’s side of the family I get the Native American. Our tribe is the Karok tribe. Its origins are Northern California. I am not registered; however I get bit and pieces from my mom sometimes. She tells me that I am an 8th Native American. This if I am not mistaken is enough to qualify for the federal benefits for health care and school funds. I have just not done the footwork to find out. This leads me into the second piece of the question. I am not a part of this social circle and I cannot answer what we all have in common other than the physical appearance. Generally, we all have dark hair and olive skin tone, and also having brown or hazel eyes. I notice from the members of my family that the woman age very well. Not so much the men. Inclusion is described as an addition. For example relative to thus class, an African American child being adopted by a Hispanic family and ten years later the African American child adapting to the rituals and cultural expectations if the Hispanic culture. Aerobic exercise guidelines for mostly sedentary pregnant women state that they should perform at about 60%-70% of their heart rate maximum, and guidelines for active pregnant women suggest they perform at about 60%-90% of their heart rate maximum (11). However, its benefits far outweigh the dangers of failure in the economic affairs of the country. It has been said that, â€Å"Government intervention in the market sets out to attain two goals: social efficiency and equity. Aggregate supply is the total supply of goods and services produced in the nation’s economy. It is upward-sloping because at higher prices firms have an incentive to produce more, and at lower prices they are likely to produce less. Aggregate demand is the total demand for goods and services in the nation’s economy. It is downward-sloping because at higher prices, consumers, firms, government, and foreign customers are less willing to buy, while they will likely buy more at lower prices. Shifts in the aggregate supply and aggregate demand curves can illustrate changes in the performance of our economy. If consumer confidence in the economy falls and people reduce their spending, aggregate demand can fall, reducing real output and prices and possibly dropping the country into a recession. However, if the money supply is too large, excessive consumer demand can push up the aggregate demand, raising real output and prices and possibly pushing the country into serious inflation (Econedlink.org, 2006). Basically, the government intervenes in a given situation in order to correct economic problems such as serious inflation, as was stated in the preceding paragraph, or enhancing the benefits and advantages to be derived from the market in the context of economy. Now, when inflation begins to manifest, sometimes the government let it move in its natural course, but if the inflation rates go very, very high to the detriment of the country’s economy, the government takes action by making policies to correct these rates. And now, most economists learned their lesson from history the Great Depression during the early part of the 20th century. In fact most economists try to advocate in favor of the idea that the government should be more aggressive in creating economic stabilizing policies. One concrete example of a government intervention that had a positive effect on the country was the implementation of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s â€Å"New Deal† policy which was a response to the Great Depression. During this period in the 1930s, (Economics.about.com, 2006) the United States endured the worst business crisis and the highest rate of unemployment in its history. Many Americans concluded that unfettered capitalism had failed. So they looked to government to ease hardships and reduce what appeared to be self-destructive competition. Roosevelt and the Congress enacted a host of new laws that gave government the power to intervene in the economy. Among other things, these laws regulated sales of stock, recognized the right of workers to form unions, set rules for wages and hours, provided cash benefits to the unemployed and retirement income for the elderly, established farm subsidies, insured bank deposits, and created a massive regional development authority in the Tennessee Valley. Usually, in stabilizing the economy, the government uses monetary policies in order to regulate supply and demand, two factors in basic economics. A policy like this is implemented by â€Å"influencing the national economy by monetary control. Its feature of monetary control includes the definition of the monetary unit, the regulation of the supply of cash and bank deposits, and the control of banking (Greene, Parthemos. 78).† Using this monetary control power, it is recommended that the Federal Reserve System, being the foundation of the American Banking System, buy bonds so that banks can have more money by loaning. Therefore, this would help to reduce the interest rates; consumers, producers and firms are more likely to engage enthusiastically with each other in trade through economic transactions. The government can also regulate its expenditures so as to maintain its treasury reserves so that in cases of economic difficulties, it has means to offset the increased in debts. A situation in an economy where consumers and firms are fearful of borrowing from banks, the government can intervene by recommending that the Federal Reserve Bank lower the discount and interest rates, so that consumers and firms will be more willing to loan and spend because banks are willing to borrow money available for loans at lower interest rates. This would effectuate an increased in aggregate demand. The aims of the United States government, being a capitalist country, with respect to national economy are said to be to 1) secure an adequate rate of growth, 2) sustain high levels of production and employment, and 3) maintain reasonability in prices (Greene, Parthemos. 73).
